What are the factors that determine the quality of waterborne aluminum pigment?First of all,we need to understand what is waterborne aluminum pigment.Usually waterborne aluminum pigment:also known as waterborne silver paste,waterborne aluminum powder and waterborne powder paste,ect.With the development of waterborne coatings,waterborne aluminum pigment has been widely concerned.

As aluminum is a kind of active amphoteric metal element,it is easy to react with water ,acid and alkali and release hydrogen to produce swelling phenomenon.At present,the vast majority of waterborne coatings on the market are weakly alkaline,and some coatings have high acid value.The factors that determine the quality of waterborne aluminum pigment are mainly related to the preparation method,hue and brightness strength,acid and alkali resistance,shear performance and storage period.Next,we will describe waterborne aluminum pigment.

1.Adding corrosion inhibitor method and chromate or its salt passivation method

The advantages are low production cost,short cycle and good brightness,which greatly maintain the original hue and brightnessof oily silver paste.The disadvantages are that the coating is not dense or there is no coating layer,the acid and alkaline resistance of silver paste is poor,and the storage period is short or even no storage period.

2.Inorganic silica coating method

The advantages are closer to the original hue and brightness of oil based silver paste,strong acid and alkali resistance ,dense coating and the finished paint can be stored for 6-12 months .The disadvantages are relatively high price.

3.Inorganic and organic double layer coating or hybrid coating method

The advantage are very strong acid base resistance and shear resistance.The disadvantages are complex coating process,high cost,long cycle and big color details.
